What we paint

Painting services

One room or the whole house? We look at the surfaces, talk colors and sheen, and give you a written quote.

The Bronx Painting Company paints apartments, co-ops, condos, one and two family houses and business spaces across the Bronx, from Riverdale and Kingsbridge in the west to Throgs Neck, Co-op City and City Island in the east. We work for owners, tenants, landlords and managing agents. The company is licensed and insured. Jobs range from one bedroom or a single stairwell to a full house, inside and out, and each one gets a written quote.

Housing in the borough is old and varied, and that shapes the work. Pre-war buildings have plaster walls, thick paint on trim and the chance of lead in the old layers, so prep is slower and more careful. Brick houses need their cornices, windows, doors and ironwork kept painted. Frame houses near the water face salt and wind. Cold winters and humid summers limit exterior painting to the warmer, drier months, while interior painting goes on all year.

A job begins with a free visit. We look at the surfaces, measure, ask about your building's rules and send a written quote that lists the rooms or areas, the repairs, the number of coats and the paint. On the agreed day we protect floors and furniture, do the repairs and priming, and then apply the finish coats. We clean up daily. When the work is done we walk through it with you and fix anything you mark.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to paint an apartment in the Bronx?

By national figures published by HomeGuide for 2026, apartment painting costs $2 to $6 per square foot: $800 to $3,600 for a studio and $1,200 to $4,800 for a one bedroom. Those are not our quotes. Plaster condition, ceilings, trim and building rules set your price, and we give it in writing after a free estimate.

Do you work in co-op and condo buildings?

Yes. Most buildings ask for a certificate of insurance and set working hours for contractors. Send us your building's requirements and we plan the job around them.

My building is pre-war. What about lead paint?

Assume old layers may contain lead in any building from before 1978. The EPA's RRP rule covers paid work that disturbs paint in those homes, and New York City's Local Law 1 adds rules for rental apartments in buildings built before 1960.

Do I need a permit or approval to paint?

Painting on its own does not normally need a Department of Buildings permit. Co-op and condo boards often want notice. On a landmark or in a historic district, a change of exterior color needs Landmarks Preservation Commission approval.

When can exterior painting be done in the Bronx?

Roughly May through October, on dry days when the surface and the night temperature stay above the minimum on the paint label. Interior painting goes on all year.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. The Bronx Painting Company is licensed and insured. Estimates are free and the quote is in writing.
